We offer substantive, challenging internships to undergraduates, graduate students and recent graduates in our National Office in Washington, DC. We are looking for smart, creative, energetic interns who are seeking an international issues-focused internship that touches upon grassroots activism, research, lobbying, and media/communications.  We encourage those with strong written and verbal communication skills, a positive attitude, and high self-motivation to apply.

With more than 40,000 supporters nationwide and over a 60 year history, Citizens for Global Solutions staff, interns, and member activists carry out advocacy on issues within our program areas.

Q: When is the deadline for receipt of application?
     A: Summer Deadline: April 1st, 2010
         Fall Deadline: Aug. 1st, 2010
         Spring Deadline: November 15th, 2010

Q: What are the typical duties of an intern?
     A:  Although each internship will vary, duties can include attending coalition meetings and/or meetings with Congressional staffers on Capitol Hill; writing           press releases, fact sheets, and/or briefing papers; analyzing the voting patterns of Congress in regards to select international issues; following                   election campaigns and communicating with candidate election committees; creating, writing and backstopping electronic advocacy initiatives such as           online petitions; updating the Global Solutions website; and helping with membership development.

Q: Should I submit a paper application or email?
     A: We accept both snail-mail and email applications and do not process them differently.

Q: Are students who are not U.S. citizens eligible to apply?
     A: Yes, we encourage all students, including international students, to apply.

Q: If I am graduating from college or graduate school this year and will not be continuing my education, can I still apply?
     A: Yes, you are eligible to apply.

Q: Do I have to be available in person to interview?
     A: No, we'd prefer to interview you in person if you live in or around the Washington DC Metro Area, otherwise we conduct interviews by phone.

Q: Is the internship program limited to specific majors?
     A: No. Though many applicants are commonly working towards majors in U.S. Government or some form of foreign policy/international relations, we                  encourage ALL majors to apply.

Q: When will I hear if I am selected for an interview?
     A: If selected, you can expect to be contacted for an interview within two weeks after the application deadline listed above for your particular semester.

Q: What are the hours, and start and end dates for the program?
     A: Preference will be given to those who are able to work full time, 40 hours per week. We require a minimum of 3 full working days per week. Each                  internship term must last a minimum of three months. Please state your intended availability in your cover letter.

Q: Is this a paid internship?
     A: Only a small stipend of $10 per full day is offered to help cover daily travel and some food expenses.
